The purpose of this employment is to improve the golf course and grounds.
This is a key position within the Golf Course Maintenance Department for the season typically beginning March 1 and concluding Nov. 1. The right candidate will take a lay-off during the winter months and return the following season. Work directly with the Golf Course Superintendent and owners to help develop a daily work schedule and coordinate the related activities and necessary equipment with the team. Assist in training of seasonal golf course employees along with participation in construction projects as well as specific maintenance activities on the golf course, clubhouse and grounds.
Hourly rate based upon experience starting at $17.50/hour with overtime and a half after 40 hours in 7 day period. Must be available to work 1/2 days weekend mornings. We strive to schedule 2 consecutive days off per week, typically Wednesday - Thursday depending upon weather and project requirements. 5 days paid vacation are included each calendar year. Golf privileges include greens and cart fees, Mon-Fri anytime and Sat, Sun & Holidays after 2 pm. Guests are not included. 50% off all food and non-alcoholic beverages in the 19th Hole any work day. Charging privileges for meals may be deducted from pay or you may pay cash. Uniforms and other personal equipment are not provided.
Scope of Job/Core responsibilities:
Help promote player satisfaction through quality maintenance and communications.
Perform all functions and routine golf course maintenance activities punctually as directed by the Superintendent. Be thoroughly trained in the proper procedures required to perform each task before performing each task in daily operations.
Keep all equipment, grounds and buildings clean, organized and safe. Inspect all equipment and tools that are assigned to specific tasks and reports any issues to the Superintendent.Scope of Job/Core responsibilities: Continued page 2
Have a strong understanding and continue to expand in turf grass culture, course conditioning, and construction. Continue educational development by staying up to date on new technologies.
Assist in establishing, promoting and enforcing safety practices in accordance with local, state and federal regulations.
Insure that personal protective equipment is worn as prescribed and required. Help to operate this department within all company, county, state and federal regulations.
Posses a basic knowledge of the mechanical, hydraulic and electrical components involving the ongoing pump station maintenance.
Perform basic irrigation head and related pipe repairs.
Know the locations and continue to locate valves, quick couplers, sprinkler heads and pipes.
Cut, fill in, compact and resetting of sod after repairs.
Stay in constant contact with the Superintendent on changing situations.
Communicate in a professional manner including to owners, subordinates, management, other team on property, suppliers, as well as players and potential guests.
Skill Requirements:
A minimum of 3 years experience on a golf course or turf related industry
Ability to perform physical labor. May be required to complete activities as bending, lifting, stooping, kneeling, climbing, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling and grasping for up to 5 hours without sitting. May need to lift 50 lbs. or more frequently.
Ability to carry out and communicate to others in detailed, written or verbal instructions.
Ability to perform mathematic calculations accurately especially calibration techniques.
Possess good organizational skills.
Must possess logical and scientific thinking to solve problems.
Ability to visually inspect golf course conditions and report findings.
Have a valid driver’s license and be able to operate a motor vehicle safely.
