Metairie Country Club is a premier private club located in Metairie, Louisiana, just west of the cultural mecca of New Orleans. Founded in 1922 in the aftermath of The Great War, the club has a rich history rooted in tradition and championship golf.
Originally designed by Seth Raynor, the course has recently undergone a significant restoration under the guidance of architect Brian Silva. The restoration included the installation of new short-grass playing surfaces, rebuilt bunkers, a modernized irrigation system, and enhanced drainage throughout the property.
The turfgrass program features TifEagle putting greens, TifGrand approaches, Latitude 36 tees and fairways, and Tifway 419 rough. The most prominent and defining feature of the course is its putting surfaces. Every classic Raynor green template was faithfully implemented during the restoration, and these greens have quickly become the trademark of the club.
The close relationship between greens, surrounds, and adjacent tee boxes gives Metairie Country Club a true old-school, classic feel—hallmarks of Raynor’s timeless design philosophy. The course reopened on December 10, 2021, and since that time, the agronomy team h...as been dedicated to delivering the championship-level conditions that the design both demands and deserves.
