Madden’s is currently seeking a full-time Head Mechanic/Equipment Manager. The EM is a key member to the entire resort as they are responsible for repair, maintenance, and safe operation of all golf course equipment, mowers, carts, resort-owned vehicles and more. The EM will assist the GCS in implementing a preventative maintenance program, and ensures all equipment and vehicles support the daily needs for the resort and golf courses.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Plans, performs and oversees routine and preventive maintenance on golf course, resort and owners equipment and vehicles. This includes larger diesel machines, golf carts, mowers small and large, and highway vehicles.
Troubleshoots, prioritizes and makes repairs to equipment and vehicles as necessary.
Keeps accurate and organized records of maintenance and repairs to all equipment.
Develop and implement scheduled preventive maintenance and repair programs for all turf equipment, tools, and vehicles
Grind mower reels in the fall or as needed during the summer.
Direct and oversee activities of assistant mechanic to include training.
Performs daily mower setup and adjustments on both reel and rotary mowers
Maintain a neat, clean and organized shop.
Organize and maintain a detailed inventory of all equipment, tools, and vehicles.
Clean and maintain all shop equipment to keep it good working order.
Advise Superintendent of any expensive repairs needed prior to ordering parts.
Assist resort guests with minor repairs, such as, flat tires or jump starts.
Assist the GCS with planning and tracking annual capital and operating equipment expenses.
Assist in training of personnel on daily equipment and vehicle inspections.
Maintains flexibility to take on new and different tasks as directed by the Superintendent or the Assistant Superintendent.
Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
Attend training and staff meetings. Continuing education courses available
Regular and reliable attendance.
Performs other duties as required.
Skills and Abilities:
Preferred experience with the operation and maintenance of reel mowers.
Keeps current with new production methods, techniques, and materials by work assignment locations.
Knowledge of both gas and diesel engines
Preferred experience in welding and fabrication.

Education/Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent, with at least two years of experience maintaining and repairing golf course equipment and/or similar type equipment.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Plans, schedules, and educates assistant mechanics in their respective roles
Work Environment:
Work is performed mainly outside on golf courses or in a maintenance shop.
Physical Demands:
Primarily walking or standing for prolonged periods of time. Must have the ability to stand, walk, talk/hear, both in person and by telephone, occasionally required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch and lift up to 50-pound boxes and sometimes up to 100 pounds.
This is a 12 month position (10 month possibility)
