About the Position The Golf Course Superintendent reports to the Director of Agronomy and is responsible for the oversight and management of one of Desert Mountain’s seven golf courses. This leader will maintain outstanding playing conditions for daily member play and tournament events while directing all golf course maintenance, agronomic programs, staffing, budgeting, and operational planning for their assigned course.
The successful candidate will be a highly visible, front-facing leader who develops strong relationships with members, staff, and Club leadership while creating and executing a long-term vision for course conditions. This role offers the opportunity to lead a significant operation within one of the most respected agronomy programs in private club golf.
What You’ll Do • Provide leadership and oversight for one of the Club’s seven golf courses and all associated grounds operations • Develop and execute agronomic programs that consistently deliver exceptional playing conditions • Lead, mentor, train, and develop a team of assistant superintendents, mechanics, and golf course staff • Collaborate closely with the Director of Agronomy to achieve Club standards • Manage staffing, resource deployment, labor planning, and operational efficiency • Oversee maintenance of the golf course, practice facilities, landscaping, and outdoor venues • Support tournaments, member events, and Club programming throughout the year • Develop annual operating and capital budgets and manage financial performance accordingly • Implement safety programs and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements • Maintain strong communication with members, staff, and Club leadership regarding course conditions and operations • Participate in ongoing capital improvement and golf course enhancement projects

What You’ll Bring • Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible golf course management experience • Experience as a Golf Course Superintendent or in a comparable leadership role at a high-end golf facility • Strong agronomic expertise, including experience with bentgrass and warm-season turf management • Demonstrated success developing, mentoring, and leading high-performing teams • Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation • Experience utilizing technology and data to improve agronomic and operational performance • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with members, staff, and leadership • Ability to balance attention to detail with long-term strategic planning • Two- or four-year degree in agronomy, turfgrass science, or a related field preferred
