The Country Club of Paducah is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to support the continued excellence of our golf course and grounds. This is a key leadership position designed to work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent in both the daily execution of agronomic programs and the management and development of staff.
Position Overview
This role serves as a working leader, balancing hands-on turf management with supervisory responsibilities. The successful candidate will play an integral role in staff leadership, course conditioning, and operational execution, while helping drive the club’s commitment to exceptional playing conditions and member experience.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Staff Management
Assist in planning, assigning, and supervising daily maintenance operations
Lead, train, and develop grounds staff to ensure high performance and consistency
Monitor and inspect completed work to maintain championship-level conditions
Participate in hiring, onboarding, and performance management of team members
Enforce safety standards, equipment protocols, and regulatory compliance
Serve as acting Superintendent in their absence
Agronomic & Course Management
Execute turf management programs, including mowing practices, fertility, and cultural applications
Assist with pesticide and fertilizer applications in accordance with all regulations
Monitor course conditions and proactively address turf health and playability
Support irrigation scheduling, troubleshooting, and system maintenance
Assist with course setup, tournament preparation, and special events
Contribute to drainage, renovation, and improvement projects
Operations & Communication
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and applications
Communicate effectively with the Superintendent regarding course conditions and priorities
Ensure the golf course, clubhouse grounds, and surrounding property reflect club standards
Support environmental stewardship and responsible resource management

2–5+ years of golf course maintenance experience, preferably at a private club
Prior supervisory or leadership experience strongly preferred
Degree or certificate in Turfgrass Management or related field preferred
Knowledge of turfgrass agronomy, irrigation systems, and equipment operation
Pesticide applicator license (or ability to obtain) preferred
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Passion for the game of golf and commitment to course excellence
