The Assistant Superintendent will assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of daily maintenance activities to ensure the golf course is maintained to the highest standards.
Not only will the right candidate gain valuable construction, grow-in, and warm season grass experience, but they’ll also be exposed to the latest and greatest technologies from TORO, turfRad, taskTracker, USGA moisture meter and GS3 ball, Spiio, Spectrum, POGO, etc. As well as a $4MM TORO, Kubota, Salsco, and Harper equipment package. We will provide you with the resources, training, knowledge, and experience to be successful at the highest level.
Responsibilities
Manage daily maintenance activities including mowing, watering, fertilizing, and aerating.
Supervise groundskeeping staff to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
Monitor and manage turf grass health, including disease treatment, pest control, and soil health.
Oversee irrigation systems, including scheduling, maintenance, and repair.
Maintain the aesthetic quality of the course, including trees, shrubs, flowers, and other landscaping elements.
Assist in managing the maintenance budget, including procurement of supplies and cost control.
Ensure staff follow safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
Participate in course renovations, construction projects, and other special initiatives as required.
Apply fertilizers, insecticides, fungicides, herbicides, and soil conditioners appropriately.
Provide recommendations to improve turf conditions and address challenges.
Supervise detailed maintenance of the property, staff, and equipment.
Participate in interviewing, hiring, directing, and supervising the Golf Course and Grounds team.
Prepare detailed and accurate records of all course chemical applications, inspections, and other required activities.
2-4 year degree in Turf Grass Management
Must have Texas Pesticide Applicator's License or be able to obtain this within first 90 days
Bilingual (English/Spanish) communication preferred
Valid Driver's License
Solid understanding of native Texas turf frass as well as invasive weeds, funguses, insects, or any other factor that might impact effective turf growth in Texas
Advanced knowledge and understanding of cultural practices, fertilizer and chemical application and calibration
Prior experience scheduling and modifying Toro irrigation programs
Ability to read and understand product labels and government regulations, including knowledge of the proper use of various chemicals and fertilizers
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Office)
Ability to work well with others and manage staff with the goal of providing the best playing conditions for players and guests
Positive attitude, interest in learning, and a passion for the game!
