Position Summary
The Golf Course Superintendent will be responsible for the overall maintenance, agronomic health, and presentation of the golf course and surrounding grounds. This leader will oversee daily operations, manage departmental budgets, and implement forward-thinking agronomic practices to elevate course conditions while preparing for future improvements.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, supervise, and execute all aspects of golf course maintenance, including greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and practice areas
Develop and implement modern agronomic programs (fertility, irrigation, pest management, and cultural practices)
Monitor turf health and proactively address issues related to weather stress, soil conditions, and play volume
Lead, train, and mentor the grounds maintenance team, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence
Prepare and manage the annual operating and capital budgets for the agronomy department
Oversee and optimize irrigation systems, including water management and conservation strategies
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations
Coordinate with golf operations staff to ensure course conditions align with tournament schedules and daily play
Maintain accurate records of chemical applications, equipment maintenance, and agronomic data
Assist in long-term planning and execution of course renovation and improvement projects
Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a Golf Course Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent
Degree or certification in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, or related field preferred
GCSAA Class A membership or ability to obtain certification preferred
Strong knowledge of Bermudagrass management (and transition-season challenges)
Experience with irrigation systems, pump stations, and water management best practices
Proven leadership and team management skills
Strong budgeting, planning, and organizational abilities
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as required
