Childress Hall is an exclusive private 36-hole links style golf club located in northwest Texas, just outside the town of Childress featuring two unique designs. The Upper course, designed by Tom Doak, and the Lower course, a Gil Hanse design. Set along the Prairie Dog Town Fork of the Red River to the west and natural sand dunes to the east, Childress Hall offers a dramatic and uncommon golf landscape reminiscent of Scotland.

Position Summary:
The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent will play a vital leadership role in the development, grow-in, and long-term maintenance of Childress Hall’s two world-renowned golf courses. This position offers a unique opportunity to be involved from the ground up at a premier private golf club featuring designs by Tom Doak and Gil Hanse.
Working closely with the Golf Course Superintendent and fellow Assistant Superintendents, this individual will assist in all facets of golf course management, agronomic programming, and daily maintenance operations. The Assistant Superintendent will help ensure exceptional playing conditions, thoughtful course presentation, and sustainable maintenance practices across both courses.
This is a hands-on leadership position for a motivated, team-oriented professional who is eager to grow within a high-performance golf course maintenance operation. Key areas of involvement will include agronomic planning, crew leadership, staff development, environmental stewardship, and daily operational execution.
Essential Responsibilities:
Communicate effectively with the GCS, Course Superintendents, AIT's, Irrigation and Spray Technicians, and team members to support efficient operations across both courses.
Maintain and drive improvement of all playing surfaces, with a focus on turf health, firmness, consistency, and daily playability.
Assist with the operation and maintenance of a brand-new Rain Bird IC 2-wire irrigation system, including daily monitoring, troubleshooting, programming adjustments, and irrigation scheduling.
Lead and work alongside the maintenance team in daily course operations by assigning tasks, providing direction, training employees, and ensuring work is completed safely and to club standards.
Assist with the implementation of the agronomic plan, including fertility, chemical applications, cultural practices, pest management, mowing programs, and seasonal turf strategies.
Identify turf stress, disease, pest activity, drainage concerns, irrigation issues, and other agronomic challenges, and assist with timely corrective action.
Ensure chemicals, fertilizers, and other controlled materials are properly used, stored, recorded, and disposed of in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Maintain accurate records for pesticide and fertilizer applications, irrigation practices, weather conditions, inventory, maintenance procedures, equipment use, and employee timekeeping.
Promote a safe, clean, and organized work environment by training team members on safe work practices and helping maintain equipment, facilities, and work areas to a professional standard.
Qualifications:
Golf course maintenance experience in providing exceptional course conditions.
Knowledge of pest control products and their applications.
Knowledge of irrigation utilization, drainage installation, repair and maintenance.
A current state pesticide applicator license, or the ability to acquire one.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.
Bachelor’s, Associates or Certification in turf grass management, or related experience.

Childress Hall, an exclusive private 36-hole links style golf course located in northwest Texas, just outside the town of Childress. The Club will have more than $5 million in equipment assets under management. Construction of the first golf course, designed by Tom Doak, has completed and the construction of the second golf course, designed by Gil Hanse, commenced in November 2024. The Club and courses will take full advantage of its location along the Prairie Dog Town Fork of The Red River on the western edge and the sand dunes on the eastern edge that is reminiscent of Scotland. The Private Club will be a destination club with 150 members, with lodging and airport access 10 minutes from the Club.
