Under supervision and mentoring, the assistant directs and participates in the maintenance of all golf course features, equipment and facilities
Assists in planning, supervising and working hands on, in the maintenance of greens, tees, fairways, roughs, bunkers, etc.
Schedules works (may modify the daily work schedule based on professional interpretation). This to include schedule for changing cups and tee markers on a regular basis
Performs the implementation of an overall turf health program. This includes aeration, topdressing and the application of pesticides, fertilizer and chemicals to the golf course turf. Learn to identify and address turf areas prone to "burn out" or "rot"
Operates an assortment of golf course equipment, including but not limited to: mowers, utility vehicles, sweepers, brooms, rollers, rakes, sprayers, loaders, compressors, trenchers, automobiles, etc.
One to two years of past golf course experience desired
Equipment operation and maintenance procedures
Maintain and repair golf course equipment (desired)
The employee will most likely lift light and heavy objects and use tools or equipment
The work is performed outdoors, including cold or inclement weather
The employee may be exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease, irritating chemicals and machinery with moving parts
Valid driver's license issued by the state for the type of vehicle or equipment operated
VA Pesticide Certificate
Must be willing and able to work weekends and holidays as needed, especially during busy season. Busy seasons require work beyond a "normal" 40-hour work week.
