The Surf Golf & Beach Club is seeking a dedicated Assistant Superintendent to join our team at our 18-hole Private golf course. The course, originally designed by George Cobb in 1960 and renovated by John Lafloy in 1996 and 2016, features Champion Bermuda grass greens and 419 Bermuda fairways, tees, and rough. Our goal is to maintain excellent playing conditions for our members while ensuring a reasonable work schedule. There may be occasions where late work is required, such as during topdressing, aerifying, or tournament preparation. The club boasts a state-of-the-art HDPE Toro irrigation lynx system with 4 Smart hubs, two new pump stations, and two deep wells dedicated to irrigation. We have exciting renovation plans in the pipeline, including improvements to greens, bunkers, tees, and the practice facility, as well as ongoing clubhouse renovations with a new campus-style design.
Minimum 2 years of golf course experience. Must have a working knowledge of irrigation systems and ability to troubleshoot and make basic repairs. Prior private club experience preferred. Candidate shall be self-motivated with a strong work ethic and positive attitude. Candidate should also understand and enjoy playing the game of golf. Candidate needs to have the ability to multitask, motivate team members, have basic mechanical aptitude, Already have or the ability to obtain a state pesticide license within 90 days of employment
Surf Golf & Beach Club Overview
Surf Golf & Beach Club is the third-oldest golf course in the Myrtle Beach area. The private, 18-hole course was designed by renowned golf course architect George Cobb.
The course features approximately 3 acres of Champion Bermuda grass greens, along with 30 acres of tees and fairways planted with 419 Bermuda grass. An additional 75 acres of rough surrounds the playing areas, and the course includes 41 bunkers.
Course maintenance and operations are supported by a team of 18 full-time employees, including:
1 Superintendent
1 Mechanic
1 First Assistant Superintendent
1 Second Assistant Superintendent
3 Student workers
3 Part-time workers
1 Clubhouse landscaper
This staff works together to maintain the playing conditions and overall landscape of one of the historic golf courses in the Myrtle Beach region.
