Preferred Education:

Associates Degree
  • Ability to work independently to carry out written and verbal instructions
  • Eye for detail during visual inspections of the golf course conditions and clubhouse grounds
  • Good organizational and prioritizations skills
  • Possess a pesticide license or the ability to obtain within 90 days
  • Experience operating and training staff on all golf course equipment
  • Knowledge of calibration and use of spreaders, sprayers and moisture meters
  • Team-oriented leader who can be productive and supervise simultaneously
  • Safety-oriented and promotes a safe work environment through training and PPE
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Required to lift a least 50lbs and work outside in the hot and cold weather
  • Ability to manage the maintenance operation in the absence of the Superintendent
  • Knowledge of southern turf grasses preferred
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
  • Irrigation maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair experience
  • Experience managing moisture on all playing surfaces with moisture meter and hand watering practices as well as irrigation system operation 

 

  • 2- or 4-year Turf degree preferred
  • SC Pesticide License or ability to obtain one
  • Strong work history with previous employers
  • Toro irrigation experience preferred not required

Camden Country Club was chartered in 1903. In 1922, Walter Travis was hired to use existing golf course and adjacent land to create a new 18 hole golf course. In 1938, Donald Ross was hired to remodel the course and install grass greens. Today, the greens are mini verde bermuda and 419 bermuda throughout the rest of the property.
