Winged Foot Golf Club is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Head Equipment Manager to oversee the maintenance, repair, and management of all golf course equipment. This position plays a critical role in ensuring peak equipment performance to support superior course conditioning.
Winged Foot Golf Club has a rich championship history and a reputation for excellence. The club has hosted multiple USGA championships and is known for its tradition, attention to detail, and exceptional member experience.
The Head Equipment Manager will contribute directly to the future success of the agronomy team and all operations on property. The successful candidate will take pride in organization, preventative maintenance, equipment setup, and be comfortable in a fast-paced championship golf environment.

Responsibilities
Perform routine maintenance and repairs on golf course equipment; including mowers, tractors, utility vehicles, and heavy equipment
Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues and implement efficient solutions to ensure optimal performance
Collaborate with the management staff to schedule maintenance tasks that align with course operations
Utilize John Deere’s Pro Golf software to maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, inventory, and equipment
Perform and oversee cutting unit setup, grinding and height of cut to exact standards
Inspect, diagnose, and repair Diesel, electric, and gasoline–powered equipment
Supervise wash pad and shop maintenance; ensure cleanliness, organization and safety
Manage equipment records, budgeting, parts inventory, and repair documentation
Collaborate with Administrative Assistant to prepare and process invoices
Participate in continuing education and professional association development
Implements environmentally responsible maintenance practices in compliance with federal and state regulations, including waste oil disposal, chemical storage, and stormwater management
Experience supporting tournament-level conditions, including coordination with agronomy teams and external crews to maintain championship-ready standards.
Demonstrates ingenuity in fabrication, with the ability to engineer and modify parts or tools to optimize performance and efficiency
Integrate equipment management strategies with overall course conditioning objectives through regular communication with the Superintendent and Director of Golf Courses
Qualifications and Experience
Proven success as an Equipment Manager or Head Technician at a top-tier facility for a minimum of 6-8 years
Expertise with John Deere and Toro equipment platforms
Skilled communicator with the ability to lead diverse teams
Bachelor’s degree, trade school certification, or equivalent mechanical training preferred
Proficiency in reel grinding, welding, fabrication, and equipment setup

Winged Foot Golf Club is a private club with two 18-hole golf courses located in Mamaroneck, NY and is located just 20 miles north of NYC. A.W. Tillinghast designed the two championship caliber golf courses. The club was founded in 1921 and opened for play in 1923.
Winged Foot has a storied history of hosting national championship golf. The club has been selected to host the 2028 U.S. Open Championship. The 128th U.S. Open will mark the seventh time the championship has been held at Winged Foot. It will also be the 14th USGA championship to be hosted by the club. During its 100-year history, the club has been the site of six U.S. Opens, two U.S. Amateurs, two U.S. Women’s Opens, one U.S. Senior Open, one U.S. Amateur Four-Ball and one Walker Cup Match. In addition, Winged Foot hosted the 1997 PGA Championship.
Since Winged Foot’s opening, both the West and East courses have been consistently ranked in the Golf Digest Top 100 in the United States. The club recently completed a restoration of both golf courses and built a new state-of-the-art turf care facility.
