Course Description:
Ekwanok Country Club, located in historic Manchester VT, was originally built in 1899 by Walter Travis and John Duncan Dunn. It instantly became one of the nation’s best tests in golf and hosted the 1914 U.S. Amateur Championship, won by Francis Ouimet. Ekwanok celebrated its 125th anniversary in 2024, and is in the planning phases of a new Golf Course Irrigation System, as well as Master Plan work with Brian Schneider. In 2026, we will be hosting the Vermont Men's Amateur Championship.
Position Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated turf student, one who is aspiring to be a golf course superintendent, to join our team. The selected candidate will be exposed to all aspects of golf course maintenance including daily operations (mowing, course setup), chemical and fertilizer applications, hand-watering, irrigation repair, and project work. They will also gain exposure to financial tracking, application planning, and record keeping. An eagerness to learn and an inquisitive mind are encouraged, as this position will present numerous learning opportunities.
Position Requirements:
We are looking for a student currently enrolled in a Turfgrass Management program. No prior golf course experience is required; however, the internship can be tailored for those with experience. Successful candidates should be willing to work early mornings, weekends and holidays, and outdoors in all weather conditions. Intern students can expect to work between 40-60 hours a week. We are looking for hard working and dedicated individuals who are willing to work until the job is done, but we also want to promote a healthy work-life balance.
