The Nelson Golf and Sports Club located in Irving, Texas is a 440-acre property which consists of two 18 hole golf courses, TPC Las Colinas and Cottonwood Valley. The golf courses consist of L93/Crenshaw and LS44/96-2 Bentgrass greens, Bermudagrass fairways and rough. https://thenelsongolfandsportsclub.com/
Interns will work closely with the superintendents and assistants in order to be exposed to all facets of our maintenance program. As an intern you will gain experience in calibration/application of chemicals and fertilizers, application of fertilizer/pesticides with GPS equipped sprayers, green’s moisture management, daily course preparation, irrigation repair/scheduling, agronomic philosophies and implementation, logistics in planning/scheduling daily jobs, and routine maintenance. Dependent on availability and intern schedule of arrival you will also have the opportunity to experience working PGA tour events in the area.
Schedule:
Summer Interns will be scheduled for 40-45hrs/week with the opportunity for more hours if desired. The schedule will also include two consecutive days off per week for the entirety of your internship with every other weekend off.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Currently studying agronomy, turfgrass management or a similar degree.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
1-year turfgrass management experience preferred.
Currently learning about agronomy and turfgrass management practices with the ability to teach others.
A strong business aptitude and passion for the golf business.
