Responsibilities Include:
Assist in daily planning and execution of all golf course maintenance activities
Supervise and lead staff in the Superintendent’s absence
Monitor and adjust irrigation systems as needed
Apply and document fertilizer and pesticide programs in accordance with regulatory standards

Assist with budgeting, purchasing, and inventory control
Support environmental stewardship and sustainable practices
Qualifications:
Degree or certificate in Turfgrass Management or related field
Previous golf course maintenance experience required (assistant or second assistant level preferred)

Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed
Opened in 1916 as a 9-hole course and expanded in 1969 to a full 18-hole, 6,326-yard Course, Newton Country Club prides itself on delivering the finest conditioned golf course in Sussex County. As golf as the only amenity, the focus is outdoors on the course, the driving range, or the chipping & putting areas. Attention to detail is no understatement in a member-owned club, and we look for the individuals who can bring the vision to life.
In 2025, a 5-Year Strategic Plan was adopted to offer a structured plan to facility improvements, including a bunker and tee box renovation in 2026. Future plans for membership experience include determining outdoor dining facilities and off-course golfing/simulator options. Newton Country Club is a club rooted in tradition and continuing to invest to its success in the future.
