 JOB SUMMARY

 Position has responsibility for supervising and coordinating activities of employees engaged in maintaining the grounds and keeping golf course turf in playing condition. Position focuses on ensuring guest and employee satisfaction and achieving the operating budget.

 &#8226; Consults with the Director of Grounds/Director of Golf to plan and review work projects.

 &#8226; Directs and assists employees engaged in maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment. 
 &#8226; Ensures all lawns and plantings are properly watered, fertilized and cared for to promote healthy growth and prevent problems. 
 &#8226; Ensures compliance with all Grounds departmental policies, standards and procedures. 
 &#8226; Ensures contractors quality of work and compliance with safety policies and procedures. 
 &#8226; Helps ensure regulatory compliance to facility regulations and safety standards. 
 &#8226; Helps to manage the overall look of the golf course including lawn care and maintenance, irrigation, horticultural/pruning, weed control, pest and disease control.

 SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES 
 Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the City&#8217;s policies and applicable laws. &#xa0;Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.&#xa0; Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Possession of an associate&#8217;s degree from an accredited two-year college or university is preferred. A minimum of three (3) years of experience in parks operations and turf/landscaping is required, including responsibility in grounds maintenance, horticulture, or landscaping, and experience maintaining and managing synthetic turf sports fields, with a minimum of two (2) years required within a supervisory capacity. &#xa0; 
 A comparable amount of training, education, or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.

 Position Summary:

 Key Responsibilities - Skills, Aptitude, and Knowledge: 
 
 
 Work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent to supervise, schedule and train a staff of full-time, part-time, and seasonal employees 
 Supervise maintenance work and staff to achieve the most efficient utilization of workers and equipment while being accountable for the finished results of work 
 Coordinate with the Superintendent in the planning, scheduling, and implementation of maintenance practices and projects 
 Apply fertilizers and plant protectants, including calibrating sprayers and spreaders; record all applications and ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations 
 Perform irrigation scheduling and make basic irrigation repairs 
 Perform basic mowing tasks and cultural practices when needed 
 Safely operate golf course equipment including but not limited to carts, mowers, rollers, rakes, loaders, automobiles, etc. 
 Maintain awareness of changing course conditions, recognize problems, and communicate maintenance needs to the Superintendent

 Obtain authorization for repairs before repairs are conducted and document thoroughly on repair order authorization form with date, time, name and signatures or initials of person giving authorization for work to be completed 
 In coordination with the team&#8217;s advisor group, contact vendors and machine shops to facilitate repair of outsourced equipment 
 Follow up on the scheduling of service calls for repaired units, ensure advisors are discussing the completed repairs with customer, and verify contact for customer satisfaction survey follow up

 Prepare team for monthly TAC calls, ensure team follows up on cases with Vendors weekly 
 Coordinate with the Warranty Administrator to monitor vendor warranty claims process

 The spray technician, under the supervision of the Director of Agronomy or Landscape Superintendent, performs chemical and fertilizer applications on landscape areas. The spray technician is responsible for reading, understanding and keeping current with chemical labels and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS). This position is also responsible for compiling preliminary reports of pesticide usage for the Golf Course Superintendent and to perform all grounds keeper duties when not performing spray tech duties. 
 
 Performs routine safety inspections on all spraying equipment. 
 Maintains chemical storage and mixing areas in compliance with county, state, and federal regulations, and is responsible for the safety and direction of chemical handlers and/or helpers. 
 Tracks chemical inventory. 
 
 Currently posses or have ability to obtain Florida Pesticide License within 90 days of hire. 
 Currently enrolled in turf school a plus but not necessary 
 Complete knowledge of chemical application equipment. 
 Ability to follow oral and written directions. 
 Possession of a valid Florida driver&#39;s license. 
 High School Diploma or GED. 
 
 Knowledge in the safe mechanical operation and calibration of the following types of equipment:

								<description>Boynton Beach, Florida,  The Country Club of Florida is a private 18 hole facility located in Boynton Beach, Florida. The club was originally founded in 1956 by Carlton Blunt and was originally designed by Robert Bruce Harris. In 1986 another major renovation was completed by Arthur Hills. Then in 2006, Lester George conducted our most recent renovation. In the summer of 2023, we just completed our most recent &#8220;restoration&#8221; where we completed the following: the resurfacing of all greens, fraze mowing all fairways, adding Better Billy Bunkers, updating the irrigation system with Toro Infinity Sprinklers, redesigning the clubhouse parking lot, and a complete renovation of the driving range and practice area. In 2012 a brand-new environmental building was installed which includes an above ground gas and diesel tank, Carbtrol Washdown System, chemical mixing and loading area, and equipment storage. We are also currently in the process of building a brand-new, state of the art maintenance facility which a 3 phase project with phase 1 set to be completed in June. 
 &#xa0; 
 Position Overview  
 The Assistant Superintendent will be involved in the day to day operation of the golf course and clubhouse landscaping. This includes managing and working alongside a staff of +/- 15 crew members, spraying chemicals/ fertilizer, spreading fertilizer, hand watering, irrigation repair and regular maintenance, diagnosing irrigation issues, operating mowers, tractors, and many other pieces of equipment. Also responsible for overseeing landscaping throughout the course, and clubhouse areas. &#xa0;Candidates must be willing to work alongside the director of agronomy and golf course superintendent in coordinating day to day tasks and implement the agronomic program. Candidates must be detail oriented to continue to provide a high quality golf course for the membership. The candidate should be able to operate a digital workboard, run irrigation through the Toro Lynx irrigation program, use moisture management tools, gps technology, and the willingness and ability to learn new things. Proper record keeping of irrigation flow totals and chemical and fertilizer applications is a must as well. Most importantly this person must be willing to work together as a team, show up to work consistently and on time, have a positive and friendly attitude, and be willing to learn and contribute to the betterment of the club.
