The Superintendent at Del Paso Country Club reports directly to the Director of Agronomy. The Superintendent directs and participates in the maintenance of the golf course, practice areas, and clubhouse landscape.
The ideal candidate will possess a proven reputation as a leader in a positive workplace environment. This position will focus on irrigation programming and moisture management throughout the property during the growing seasons and efficient scheduling of the daily workflow based on the weekly and monthly plan. Managing and assisting in a robust plant protection program is vital for the success of this position. Payroll and inventory management is also expected of this role along with continual training and supervision of a union staff. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a current lead assistant at a quality golf facility to advance their career and earn their first superintendent title while continuing to learn and contribute to an established agronomic program.
Areas of Responsibility:
-Assist in the planning and scheduling of agronomic practices
-Supervise and train employees on the proper use of all golf course equipment
-Aid in personnel management, motivation, and evaluation
-Pesticide and fertilizer application, calibration, and record keeping
-Operation of all golf course equipment when necessary
-Contribute to the maintenance, function, and performance of the irrigation system
-Promote sound cultural practices to develop healthy and sustainable turfgrass
-Implement and conduct safety-training programs

-Posses a working knowledge of all aspects of golf course maintenance
-Maintain a positive attitude on a daily basis and set a great example to the staff
-Seek ways to achieve the most efficient utilization of workers and equipment
-Strive to provide optimal playing conditions for our golfing membership
Applicants should possess a completed turfgrass management degree or certification. Previous experience as a Senior or First Assistant from a reputable club required.

Del Paso Country Club was established in 1916 and is located near downtown Sacramento. Del Paso has held five USGA Championships in its storied past, most recently the 2015 US Senior Open. This membership owned golf course was completely renovated in 2006 and redesigned by golf course architect Kyle Phillips. The new course consists of perennial ryegrass fairways and tees and A1/A4 bentgrass greens. In 2014 the bunkers were rebuilt with new drainage and Better Billy Bunker liners. Del Paso prides itself on being the premier golf club in the area and continues to host prestigious collegiate golf competitions.
