Job Summary:
Killearn Club is looking for a full-time Irrigation Technician. Qualified candidates will work in a team environment and be highly focused on providing superior service. This position is a key member of the Golf Course Agronomy Team. This position will operate, adjust, repair and provide preventative maintenance to all aspects of a golf course irrigation system. We have a brand-new Rainbird Cirrus Pro 2 wire including over 1,500 heads spread over an 18-hole championship course and a 9-hole executive short course.
Key Responsibilities:
Work with and report to the Assistant Superintendents on identifying irrigation issues.
Repair irrigation heads in a timely manner
Performs weekly preventive maintenance on the irrigation system including the pumphouses and transfer pump.
Assist with setting/adjusting watering programs
Properly inventory and stock all irrigation parts and tools to minimize down time.
Reports and prioritizes any irrigation breaks immediately to the Assistant Superintendents or Superintendent and maintains a daily log of completed repairs.
Conducts monthly audit of all sprinkler heads on the entire golf facility.
Routinely inspects irrigation system components to ensure the system is operating properly.
Responsible for winterization and blowout of irrigation system, including all water lines, valves and pump stations
Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
Responsible for keeping all drain inlets and valve boxes free of debris and overgrowth
Be on time, have a good attitude, and do what is asked of you.
Performs other duties as required.
Examples being – Helping with granular applications on greens and operating mowers
Minimum Qualifications for the Irrigation Technician:
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
A 2-4/yr turf degree or certificate is preferred but not required.
Rainbird Certificate preferred but not required. (Company will assist in training and education to candidate for proper certification of Cirrus Pro)
Must have a valid driver’s license.
Other Qualifications:
Must be organized, with a strong sense of urgency and attention to detail.
Have good time management skills.
Prior golf course maintenance and irrigation experience is a major plus.
Must have the ability to lift heavy objects.
Must be able to multi-task, solve problems, and prioritize well.
Being capable of working in indoor and outdoor environments. Exposure to variable and adverse weather conditions.
