The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent works closely with the Golf Course Superintendent to oversee all aspects of golf course maintenance. This position is responsible for supervising daily maintenance operations, training staff and ensuring efficient management and upkeep of course conditions. The ideal candidate is a passionate turfgrass professional with strong leadership skills and a commitment to excellence.
Responsibilities:
Assist in planning and supervising all golf course maintenance operations.
Oversee and participate in daily tasks, including mowing, irrigation management, fertilization and chemical applications.
Supervise and train maintenance staff, ensuring safe and efficient work practices.
Monitor turfgrass health, diagnose issues and implement corrective measures.
Manage irrigation system operation, troubleshooting and repairs.
Maintain accurate records of chemical and fertilizer applications in compliance with the State of Utah regulations.
Ensure equipment is properly maintained and utilized efficiently.
Collaborate with other departments to support club events and tournaments.
Accurately collect data and maintain up to date records. (Clipping Volume, Moisture Readings, etc.)
Qualifications:
Extensive experience in golf course maintenance.
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy or a related field (recommended not required).
Strong knowledge of turfgrass species, agronomic practices, irrigation systems and pest management.
Ability to obtain and maintain a State of Utah pesticide applicator’s license.
Excellent leadership, organizational and communication skills.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays as needed.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
