 POSITION OVERVIEW: 
 The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent reports directly to the Director of Agronomy (DOA). Under the direction of the DOA and Golf Course Superintendent, the Assistant Superintendent assists in planning, coordinating, and executing daily golf course maintenance operations, including greens, tees, fairways, and rough. The Assistant Superintendent may assume supervisory responsibilities and serve in the Golf Course Superintendent&#8217;s capacity during his/her absence.

 INITIAL PRIORITIES OF POSITION: 
 
 Contributes to planning and supervising the agronomic inputs and maintenance of greens, tees, and fairways;&#xa0;schedules work and supervises the employees and the use of the equipment. 
 Helps facilitate instruction to equipment operators on the operation and care of mowing&#xa0;and other equipment; supervises pesticide applications and/or operates and&#xa0;calibrates pesticide application equipment; supervises and participates in the&#xa0;operation and maintenance of pumps, and in the maintenance of irrigation and&#xa0;drainage systems.

 Chemical and Fertility 
 
 Performs routine safety inspections on all spraying and fertilizer equipment. 
 Maintains chemical and fertilizer storage and mixing/filling areas in compliance&#xa0;with county, state, and federal regulations and is responsible for the safety and&#xa0;direction of chemical/fertilizer handlers and/or helpers. 
 Responsible for properly mixing and applying herbicides, fungicides, or&#xa0;insecticides to associated turf grasses, trees, and ornamentals. 
 Manages all spray and fertilizer applications on a daily to weekly basis and&#xa0;reports to the DOA. 
 
 Equipment Operation &#38; Care 
 
 Strong&#xa0; understanding &#xa0;of golf course equipment&#xa0;from mowers, skid-loaders, aerifiers, sprayers, and small equipment. 
 Ensures that the equipment cooling system is working at all times; refills fuel daily; cleans equipment daily, and reports equipment problems or failures to&#xa0;the DOA and Head Equipment Manager. 
 Provides basic preventative maintenance on equipment as directed by the DOA&#xa0;and for returning equipment to the designated location at the maintenance facility. 
 Responsible for training and safety.&#xa0; 
 
 PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS: 
 
 Requires a minimum of two years of turfgrass experience as an intern or post-graduate. 
 Requires working knowledge of the maintenance of golf course tees, fairways, and greens; maintenance practices for golf course turf; the planting,&#xa0;cultivation, pruning, and caring for plants, shrubs, and trees; the characteristics and&#xa0;proper use of various fertilizers and soil conditioners; herbicides and pest control&#xa0;methods and materials; drainage control methods; and irrigation system, including&#xa0;wells, pumps, and automatic controls. 
 Requires valid driver&#8217;s license. 
 Requires current state certification or licensing as a pesticide applicator within 90 days of employment.

								<description>Boynton Beach, Florida,  The Country Club of Florida is a private 18 hole facility located in Boynton Beach, Florida. The club was originally founded in 1956 by Carlton Blunt and was originally designed by Robert Bruce Harris. In 1986 another major renovation was completed by Arthur Hills. Then in 2006, Lester George conducted our most recent renovation. In the summer of 2023, we just completed our most recent &#8220;restoration&#8221; where we completed the following: the resurfacing of all greens, fraze mowing all fairways, adding Better Billy Bunkers, updating the irrigation system with Toro Infinity Sprinklers, redesigning the clubhouse parking lot, and a complete renovation of the driving range and practice area. In 2012 a brand-new environmental building was installed which includes an above ground gas and diesel tank, Carbtrol Washdown System, chemical mixing and loading area, and equipment storage. We are also currently in the process of building a brand-new, state of the art maintenance facility which a 3 phase project with phase 1 set to be completed in June. 
 &#xa0; 
 Position Overview  
 The Assistant Superintendent will be involved in the day to day operation of the golf course and clubhouse landscaping. This includes managing and working alongside a staff of +/- 15 crew members, spraying chemicals/ fertilizer, spreading fertilizer, hand watering, irrigation repair and regular maintenance, diagnosing irrigation issues, operating mowers, tractors, and many other pieces of equipment. Also responsible for overseeing landscaping throughout the course, and clubhouse areas. &#xa0;Candidates must be willing to work alongside the director of agronomy and golf course superintendent in coordinating day to day tasks and implement the agronomic program. Candidates must be detail oriented to continue to provide a high quality golf course for the membership. The candidate should be able to operate a digital workboard, run irrigation through the Toro Lynx irrigation program, use moisture management tools, gps technology, and the willingness and ability to learn new things. Proper record keeping of irrigation flow totals and chemical and fertilizer applications is a must as well. Most importantly this person must be willing to work together as a team, show up to work consistently and on time, have a positive and friendly attitude, and be willing to learn and contribute to the betterment of the club.

								<description>Palm Beach Gardens, Florida,  Frenchman&#39;s Creek is seeking a motivated and detail oriented Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to join our team. The Assistant Superintendent will play an important role in maintaining the highest standards of golf course conditioning and presentation for our members and their guests.&#xa0; 
 Responsibilities Include: 
 Assist the Golf Course Superintendent and Director of Agronomy in all aspects of golf course maintenance including: 
 
 Overseeing daily turf maintenance such as mowing, irrigation and moisture management, fertilization, and cultural practices.&#xa0; 
 Implementing and monitoring pest and disease control programs. 
 Supervising and training new and experienced staff members. 
 Maintaining accurate records of all activities and chemical applications. 
 Ensuring compliance with all environmental regulations. 
 Proactively identifying and, if possible, resolving current and potential challenges. 
 Participating in professional development opportunities. 
 Performing other duties as assigned. 
 
 Qualifications: 
 
 Associates Degree or certificate in Agronomy, Horticulture, or related field or equivalent experience 
 Prior golf course experience with a strong knowledge of turfgrass and management practices. 
 Experience with fertilizer and pesticide calibration, applications, safety, and proper record keeping. 
 Excellent written and oral communication, interpersonal, and organizational abilities. 
 Florida Pesticide Applicators license or obtainment of one within the first 90-days of employment.
