The Golf Course Superintendent is responsible for the overall management, maintenance, and agronomic performance of the Club’s golf courses. This role provides leadership for all golf course maintenance operations, including turf management, irrigation, equipment management, personnel supervision, budgeting, and regulatory compliance. The Superintendent works closely with the Director of Agronomy to deliver championship-level playing conditions and an outstanding member experience.
Primary Responsibilities:
Maintains all grounds related to the golf courses.
Maintains course maintenance equipment.
Schedules personnel assigned to department.
Trains personnel assigned to department.
Supervises personnel assigned to department.
Evaluates personnel assigned to department.
Supervises all planting, fertilizing and care of turf, plants, shrubs, trees and other facilities on golf courses.
Supervises operations of and personnel in equipment repair shop.
Records all work activities of personnel in the department.
Records all maintenance on course.
Prepares annual plan for golf course and assists in annual budget for department.
Selects and prepares proper fertilizers and chemicals for all flora.
Develops and maintains drainage, irrigation and watering systems.
Maintains course in proper playing conditions.
Provides necessary input for all required personnel records.
Implements and enforces comprehensive safety program for employees, members and guests on course in compliance with local, state and federal laws.
Maintains accurate work records for all personnel in the department.
Tracks departmental benchmarks.
Relationships:
Internal: All Club departments: For effective communication.
External: Members/Guests: To provide excellent service. Vendors: To purchase and receive goods.
Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
Must have at a minimum of 5 years of golf course experience. Must also hold a certificate or degree in Agronomy or related field.
Certification and/or License Requirement:
Must be a member of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America and be the holder of a Qualified Applicator’s Pesticide License from the state of New Mexico Department of Agriculture.

Required to work necessary hours to complete a job including over required to work in a fast paced environment

This position requires to work more than 40 hours per week.
