The Superintendent is responsible for all day-day activities related to the care and maintenance of the golf course, grounds, and equipment. Plan and implement budgets. Hire, train, and supervise staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities will include the following;
Develop the annual maintenance budget and operating plan. Implement the plan according to Company operating policies and procedures to ensure cost containment.
Plan and implement staffing schedules to ensure quality standards are achieved at minimum employee costs.
Maintain the golf course in proper playing condition according to Company standards.
Develop and implement a fertilizer, aeration and pest management program for proper turf grass and plant care.
Supervise course construction projects.
Supervise equipment maintenance and repair operations.
Implement and monitor the purchase ordering and receiving program to maintain proper inventories of supplies.
Maintain accurate records for department activities including labor schedules, course maintenance, construction, equipment repair, safety meetings.
Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal laws. OSHA rules and regulations, relating to chemical and fertilizer storage and disposal.
College degree in Agronomy, Turf Management or related field preferred.
Member of GCSAA preferred.
5+ years applicable experience in golf industry.
Maintain State required licenses and permits for all chemical/fertilizer applications.
The Woodlands Course at Whittaker is an upscale public facility. The Club supports both the local golfer in the New Buffalo, MI area along with the resort business within the Michiana tourism market. The Club consists of an 18-hole course, full length practice facility, short game facility, multiple practice putting and chipping greens, a full service Clubhouse with indoor and outdoor dining options and a stand alone banquet facility.
