Expect to work 40-65 hour work weeks (in-season) with every other weekend off (scheduled with other assistants) except during priority member events and scheduled agronomic programs.

We are seeking an Assistant Superintendent with a solid grasp of daily golf course turf management practices. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating daily assignments, ensuring adherence to the weekly agenda, and effectively managing the staff. A key aspect of the role involves possessing a comprehensive understanding of water and irrigation management, including maintenance and repair procedures. Experience with Toro irrigation operation and maintenance is highly desirable.
As the Assistant Superintendent, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the overall quality and appearance of the golf course turf. This position requires a proactive and detail-oriented individual who can effectively communicate with team members, supervisors, and other stakeholders. The Assistant Superintendent will work closely with other Assistants and the Superintendent to implement and execute turf maintenance strategies to uphold the course's standards.
In addition to daily turf management tasks, the Assistant Superintendent will be involved in planning and executing projects related to course enhancement and renovations. Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks are essential for success in this role. The ideal candidate should be self-motivated, resourceful, and capable of working in a fast-paced environment.
Two or Four year degree in Turfgrass Science, Turfgrass Management or other agronomy related field
Working knowledge of daily golf course turf management practices
Experience in scheduling and recording daily assignments
Familiarity with water and irrigation management
Ability to manage and supervise staff
Preferred experience with Toro irrigation operation and maintenance
Raritan Valley Country Club is a private country club regarded highly by its member. We offer a traditional country club setting setting to members including; golf, har-tru tennis, pickleball, squash and swimming. Designed in 1911 by Herbert H. Barker, Raritan Valley hosts average sized, strategically bunkered, undulating greens. We are located in central New Jersey and easily accessible from Interstates 78/287 and Routes 22/28/202/206.
