Le Triomphe Golf and Country Club is seeking a Golf Course Superintendent! Qualified candidates will thrive in a hospitality environment and be highly focused on providing superior service.
General Purpose:
As Golf Course Superintendent, you will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and agronomic practices of Le Triomphe Golf and Country Club's golf course, practice facility and adjacent grounds, including the clubhouse landscaping and maintenance. Responsibilities also include overseeing the repair and maintenance of all golf course-related equipment, financial controls and reporting.
Essential Duties:
Maintain all grounds including the golf course, clubhouse surrounds and other maintainable property, ensuring that the golf course provides healthy and high-quality playing conditions for guests of the property
Supervise all planting, fertilizing and chemical applications, and other care of turf, plants, shrubs and trees on the golf course and clubhouse surrounds
Hire, supervise, and develop Assistant Superintendent, foreman, irrigation technician and other employees in the maintenance department
Assure that effective orientation and training are given to each new associate; develop ongoing training programs
Inform members about present and future maintenance activities
Communicate frequently with the General Manager and Director of Agronomy to discuss activities, goals, plans and member feedback
Prepare and manage the annual budget plan for the golf course maintenance operation
Maintain inventory and oversee all repairs and scheduled maintenance of all golf course maintenance equipment
Procure supplies and materials within budgetary limitations; implement sound purchasing procedures utilizing preferred vendors when possible
Maintain records of annual maintenance activities and costs; prepare reports
Ensure all company policies and procedures are followed including compliance with government regulations
Ensure that they and all associates obtain proper training and/or licenses needed to perform job tasks safely and within city, state, and federal regulations; address all real or perceived environmental concerns directly
Implement and enforce a comprehensive safety program for employees of the maintenance department
Supervise maintenance and operation of drainage, irrigation, and other mechanical watering systems
Develop and execute chemical and fertilizing plans on an annual basis; ensure proper mixing, calibration, and application of all chemical/fertilizers used on the course
Prepare and maintain all recordkeeping for the maintenance department (i.e., Human Resource files, inventory files, fertilization, and chemical application logs)
Implement and execute all Troon Human Resource guidelines, operational tools, processes and best practices as required by the property
Perform other duties as assigned by a supervisor or manager
Leadership Development and Continuing Education:
Apply supervisory, coaching and staff development practices for successful leadership and meeting team results
Develop knowledge and expertise of budgeting and expense management
Develop knowledge of local, federal, and state laws and regulations affecting management of golf course operations
As a leader, be highly organized and efficient with high attention to detail
Maintain exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
Must have basic computer skills, including Word and Excel programs as well as irrigation, fertilizer and chemical application and management programs
Education/Experience:
Associate's degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or three to four years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Degree preference in agronomy, horticulture, or plant/soil science.
Physical Demands:
Regularly stands, walks and sits. Regularly uses hands, reaches with arms and hands, talks or hears. Occasionally climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, crawls, tastes or smells. Regularly lifts up to 50 pounds. Occasionally lifts up to 100 pounds.
Environment/Noise:
Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts, fumes and/or airborne particles. Frequently works in outdoor weather conditions. Noise level is moderate.
Ability to read and speak English is required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g. the associate is required to communicate with English-speaking customers or co-workers; manuals for the equipment the associate may use are in English)
Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
