Stonebridge Country Club is seeking a motivated and detail oriented Second Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to join our team. Stonebridge is a private 18-hole facility designed by Tom Fazio, which opened in 1989.
The course has hosted numerous events, including the Ameritech Senior Open, LPGA Tour Kellogg-Keebler Classic, Illinois Open, and several high-profile amateur championships.
This position offers a unique professional growth opportunity as our First Assistant Superintendent will be retiring, allowing the successful candidate to gain increased responsibility and mentorship within a respected operation, progressing into the First Assistant position.
Position Overview
The Second Assistant Superintendent will work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent and First Assistant Superintendent to support all aspects of golf course maintenance and daily operations. This role is ideal for an ambitious professional seeking hands-on experience with future leadership opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in daily planning, supervision, and execution of golf course maintenance operations
Supervise, train, and motivate maintenance staff
Participate in irrigation system operation, troubleshooting, and repair
Assist with chemical and fertilizer applications and record keeping
Monitor turf health and playing conditions
Qualifications
Degree or certificate in Turfgrass Management or related field preferred
Minimum 1–3 years of golf course maintenance experience (assistant-level experience a plus)
Illinois pesticide license (or ability to obtain within a designated timeframe)
Strong work ethics, attention to detail, and positive leadership skills
Excellent communication and organizational abilities
Passion for the golf course maintenance profession, career advancement, and the game of golf
