Chandler was established in 1891 as part of the land run in the Oklahoma Territory and was named after Judge George Chandler, who was serving at the time as First Assistant to the Secretary of the Interior. Chandler is part of the Greater Oklahoma City region, which continues to support a growing population of more than 1.6 million residents, making up more than 40% of the state’s population. Substantial growth is anticipated to continue throughout the region for the foreseeable future, with significant additional population residing in the suburban reaches of Oklahoma City. Chandler’s strategic location along Turner Turnpike, midway between Oklahoma City and Tulsa, allows for the unique opportunity to capture a portion of this regional growth.
