City of Dublin employees over 250 employees and has a population of approximately 16,000. Dublin is located in Middle Georgia between Macon and Savannah only 100 miles from the coast. The area where this course is located used to be the site of Georgia's first and only 4H camp for African American youth. The only building left from that time is the Emery C. Thomas Auditorium, which is now used for private events and tournaments. Back in the 1950s, there used to be a cafeteria, swimming pool, eleven cottages, and an auditorium on the site. The auditorium is listed on the Register of Historic Places. In 1975, the Dublin-Laurens Development Authority and Chamber of Commerce planned to built a 18-hole public golf course on the riverside land. The Dublin Chamber of Commerce donated 67 acres, and the Dublin-Laurens County Development Authority bought 140 acres from the Martin Theater Group of Columbus to develop the course. Construction of the Riverview Golf Course started on May 21, 1976, under the supervision of Mr. Don Lamb Sr. and Authority Development Chairman, Mr. Louis Livingston. Mr. Lamb dedicated over 1700 hours of his time to overseeing the project. After completion, the Autho...rity transferred ownership to the City of Dublin in exchange for utility services at a West Dublin Industrial site. The course opened to the public in the spring of 1977.
