El Niguel Country Club is a hidden gem located in South Orange County, California. The golf course rests in the Salt Creek watershed one mile away from the Pacific Ocean and other west coast landmarks. The club has recently undergone a renovation by Todd Eckenrode of Origins Golf Design, which has transformed the golf experience for the membership. El Niguel has a great balance of modern energy, with classical golf charm.
Assistant-In-Training Mission:
Working along-side a tenured staff and experienced leaders, El Niguel is seeking highly motivated and determined Assistant-In-Training. This position will be exposed to all facets of day-to-day tasks on an exclusive member-owned course. Assistants are expected to have a positive attitude, be prompt and on time, work in a professional manner and most importantly, be willing to learn. Along with learning the essential industry turf management practices, this individual will be exposed to local PGA Tour and USGA professional events in the area. Assistants may also have exposure to potential projects at the club, including a maintenance shop redesign, practice facility improvements and many other related golf course projects.
Responsibilities:
Perform daily mowing tasks on the golf course.
Assist with rolling greens.
Help with all aspects of bunker maintenance.
Participate in daily course set-up and preparation.
Help with all types of aerification and cultural practices.
Help apply chemical/fertilizer applications and assist with equipment calibration.
Help with irrigation and drainage installation, troubleshoot and repair potential problems.
Learn all forms of watering on various playing surfaces.
Efficiently lead groups in various tasks.
Job Requirements:
2 or 4 year degree or agronomic certification preferred.
2+ years of golf course maintenance experience preferred.
