Job Title: Golf Course Superintendent Location: Park Hills Golf Club – Altoona, PA Salary: $70,000 – $90,000 annually (commensurate with experience)
About Us: Park Hills Golf Club is a premier 18-hole facility located in the scenic hills of Altoona, Pennsylvania. Known for its rich history, challenging layout, and dedication to exceptional course conditions, Park Hills is seeking a passionate and experienced Golf Course Superintendent to lead our agronomy team and continue our tradition of excellence.
Position Summary: The Golf Course Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, operation, and overall condition of the golf course. This leadership role requires a hands-on professional who is detail-oriented, experienced in turf management, and able to manage a team while working within budget and environmental guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage all aspects of daily golf course maintenance including turf health, irrigation, equipment maintenance, and landscaping
Supervise, train, and schedule maintenance staff, ensuring safety and productivity
Develop and implement agronomic plans and cultural practices to ensure optimal playing conditions year-round
Maintain and operate the irrigation system efficiently
Monitor and manage course budget, expenses, and vendor relationships
Apply fertilizers and pesticides in accordance with regulatory and environmental standards
Collaborate with the General Manager and golf operations team to ensure smooth course operations and member satisfaction
Oversee course improvement projects and long-term planning
Qualifications:
Degree or certification in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, or a related field
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in golf course maintenance, preferably in a supervisory role
PA pesticide applicator’s license (or ability to obtain within 90 days)
Strong knowledge of irrigation systems, equipment, turf diseases, and chemical applications
Proven ability to lead and develop a team
Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Must be willing to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed
Salary & Benefits:
Salary range: $70,000 – $90,000 annually (based on experience)
