The Golf Club at Dove Mountain was founded in 2009 designed by world renowned Jack Nicklaus as part of his prestigious signature collection. The club played host to the WGC Accenture Match Play Championship from 2009-2014, where the top 64 players battled it out match play style. Champions of the event included: Jason Day, Ian Poulter, Hunter Mahan, Matt Kuchar, Luke Donald, and Geoff Ogilvy.
The Club has 27 holes and an expansive 13 acre practice facility. Several of the clubs holes sit around 3,000 feet of elevation creating some stunning views of the valley below. The mountainous backdrop creates a very unique setting for a world championship golf course in the desert.
Position:
Golf Course Superintendent
Overview:
Reporting to the Director of Agronomy, this position assists with the operation of the golf course and maintenance activities including, but not limited to: turf grass/plant material maintenance programs, property/asset management, personnel management, budget/forecasting, financial management, member relations, scheduling/maintenance of irrigation systems, pesticide applications, related record keeping and compliance of regulatory issues. The Superintendent works to create an environment where staff are involved and enthusiastic, with open communications and respect for themselves, members, guests and the property.
Duties:
Supervises and manages the daily operation of the golf course maintenance team and follows up on daily tasks with the crew.
Manages department members that include: Equipment Manager, Assistant Superintendent, Irrigation Technicians, Spray Technicians, Foreman, Equipment Operators, and Greenskeepers.
Ensures that effective orientation and training are given to each new associate. Develops ongoing training programs.
Oversees the irrigation system, monitoring of moisture levels, repairs and auditing.
Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
Supervises, develops and implements agronomic and cultivation processes involved in growing various turf grasses in the desert southwest.
Assists in the procurement of supplies and materials.
Keeps records of annual maintenance activities and costs and assists with the preparation of required reports.
Reconciles and provides timely coding of all invoices, payroll and other required documents.
Ensures all company policies and procedures are followed including compliance with government regulations.
Salary:
$75,000 - $85,000 Per Year Depending on Experience
Requirements:
Degree or Certificate in Agronomy or related field
2-3 years of experience as a Superintendent or 4-5 years as an Assistant Superintendent
Proficient in Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, & Outlook.
Arizona Pesticide Applicators License or obtain within 90 days of employment
