The Golf Course Equipment Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and service of all turf equipment used in the care and maintenance of the golf course and clubhouse grounds. This includes mowers, tractors, utility vehicles, and small engine equipment. The technician ensures that all machinery is safe, properly functioning, and operating at optimal performance to support the maintenance team.
Responsibilities:
Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical issues in gas and diesel powered equipment.
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on all equipment, including oil changes, filter replacements, and blade sharpening.
Maintain reel and rotary cutting units, including proper height-of-cut settings and grinding when needed.
Keep accurate records of all repairs and maintenance activities.
Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations, including proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
Train equipment operators on proper use and daily maintenance checks.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in the maintenance shop.
Order and manage parts inventory and supplies.
Assist with seasonal equipment preparation, including winterizing and spring readiness.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in small engine or diesel mechanics preferred.
2+ years of experience as a mechanic or technician, preferably in golf course or turf equipment.
Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and small engine repair.
Experience with reel grinding and mower adjustment is highly desirable.
Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals and schematics.
Excellent problem-solving and time-management skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in outdoor conditions as needed.
