Southern Trace Country Club is an Arthur Hills designed 18 hole facility located in Shreveport Louisiana. Other club amenities include pool, tennis courts, workout facility and dining areas.
Southern Trace Country Club recently completed a two-year, $4.2 million golf course renovation and enhancement project. The project focused on irrigation and drainage system upgrades, green complex enhancements and the addition of a new short game practice area.

Position Summary:
The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent will be responsible for assisting the Golf Course Superintendent in managing, directing, and leading golf course and grounds operations.
Responsibilities Include:

- Scheduling and leading the team by delegating assignments, providing guidance, training, coaching, and assistance to ensure work is completed as expected and on time.
- Ensure the golf course is maintained and in proper playing condition on a daily basis.
- Lead and assist in the daily set-up and maintenance of the golf course.
- Supervise and assist in all fertilizing and spraying of turf around the course.
- Train all crew members on the operation, maintenance, care, and storage of equipment.
- Manage and oversee daily playing conditions, including mowing quality, green speeds, bunker conditions, course setup, and soil moisture.
- Report and work with the equipment manager on any equipment issues.
- Communicate with the golf shop staff on a daily basis regarding any projects taking place or impact on play.
- Ensuring that chemicals are used, stored, recorded, and disposed of in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Lead daily meetings with staff, attend turf conferences, and any other educational programs.
- Perform golf course maintenance tasks, including those assigned by the Golf Course Superintendent.
Qualifications (knowledge, skills, and abilities):
- Associate degree or certificate in Agronomy, Horticulture, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience in golf course maintenance.
- Excellent oral and written communication, as well as team-building skills.
- Louisiana Pesticide license or ability to obtain one within 90 days of employment.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to work a schedule that will include some weekends and holidays.
