Position Overview: The Assistant Superintendent of Agronomy will play a vital role in the daily maintenance and long-term health of the golf course. This individual will work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent to plan and execute agronomic programs, supervise team members, and ensure the highest standards of course presentation are consistently met.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in all aspects of golf course maintenance, including turfgrass management, irrigation, fertilization, and pesticide applications.
Lead and motivate the turf maintenance team, ensuring proper training and performance standards.
Help coordinate daily and weekly work schedules for efficient operations.
Monitor course conditions and make agronomic recommendations for improvements.
Ensure all safety, environmental, and regulatory guidelines are followed.
Maintain accurate records of chemical applications, inventory, and equipment maintenance.
Act as the Superintendent’s liaison in their absence.
Educational Requirements
Degree or certificate in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, or a related field preferred.
Experience Requirements
Minimum 2 years of golf course maintenance experience, ideally in a supervisory role.
Strong understanding of turf equipment, irrigation systems, and agronomic practices.
Pesticide applicator license or ability to obtain within 90 days.
Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Passion for golf course conditioning and Member satisfaction.
Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and extended hours as needed.
