We are looking for the right individual who can work efficiently, independently and with good judgment. Compensation range for this position is $70,000 -$90,000/Yr. Depending on previous experience and proficiencies. Benefits also include a matched 401k plan, health care stipend, 3 weeks paid vacation / year, GCSAA Dues and education allowance, and other perks. Carson Valley Golf Course, just 20 minutes from Lake Tahoe, is seeking a full-time year-round Golf Course Superintendent to manage our 18-hole course. Family owned and operated since 1982 we focus on a fun and friendly approach to golf, with an emphasis on quality of life for all our team members, including 2 consecutive days off / week. The area offers an abundance of outdoor recreation opportunities including skiing, hiking, mountain biking, fishing, hunting, and all types of water sports.
At 4,800’ elevation this high desert course experiences a full 4 seasons, in nearly equal measure. Flanked by groves of Cottonwood trees straddling the Carson River, it also sits at the head of the irrigation network for this beautiful valley. Built in 1965 our regulation 18 hole course serves both locals and the many tourists who visit the Lake Tahoe area.
This challenging job will require an applicant with strong organizational, personal and leadership skills who enjoys a hands-on approach. Along with the basic management of the course we also undertake various in-house renovation projects to constantly improve course operations and playability. This involves irrigation system replacement and upgrades, renovation of tee complexes, fairway feature improvements, bunker renovations pathway improvements, and tree management.
Requirements
Must be an effective communicator, highly organized, have a focus on efficiency, and an eye for detail.
A 2 year Associates degree in Turf Management , Agronomy, Horticulture, or related field is required, a four-year degree is preferred.
5 or more years of turf grass management experience required including at least 2 years as an Assistant Superintendent, or equivalent supervisory experience.
Cool season turf experience preferred as this is a high desert facility.
Fluent with electronic record keeping and communication. Adept in Microsoft and Google applications.
Experienced with PC based irrigation scheduling systems. In depth experience with irrigation system repairs, troubleshooting and installation. 1 year or more experience as an irrigation tech is preferred.
Ability to obtain a Nevada pesticide applicators license within 60 days.
Knowledge of budgeting and expense management
A thorough understanding of the rules and strategies of the game of golf.
Responsibilities
Be a hands on leader and participant in all aspects of golf course maintenance and renovation.
Implement a complete agronomic plan focused on plant health, and best playing conditions.
Primary applicator of plant protectants and nutrients.
Monitor and manage PC based irrigation system
Train, mentor and manage a cohesive golf course maintenance team. Team members should be trained and able to perform necessary golf course operations while allowing all team members 2 consecutive days off per week.
Prepare and manage the annual maintenance budget, covering labor, equipment, materials, and capital improvements.
Maintain accurate records of agronomic practices, equipment maintenance, regulatory compliance, and safety protocols.
Plan and perform in house course renovation projects, including Irrigation system, Tee box renovation, fairway improvements, bunker renovation, landscaping and tree management.
Facility cleanliness and organization are a must
Coordinate with Golf Operations team to provide a consistent experience for our patrons.
