The Olympic Club is hiring for an Assistant Superintendent in Training to join our Golf Operations Team. At The Olympic Club, our members enjoy 2 campuses, 19 sports, world-renowned golf courses, exceptional social and athletic programs as well as 18 hotel rooms and 5 Food & Beverage outlets. Our City Clubhouse is located one block from Union Square and within easy walking distance of the Powell Street BART station. Our Lakeside Clubhouse sits next to the ocean on the border of San Francisco and Daly City.
The Olympic Club offers employees free golf on Mondays at our Lakeside campus and a variety of sports and social events for employees throughout the year as well as lunch and dinner provided every day.
Position Summary:
The Assistant in Training position involves all facets of golf course management with an emphasis on irrigation, fertilizer/pesticide, and employee management under the supervision of the Golf Course Superintendents. Supervises: Greenkeepers and Groundkeepers.
Highlights – The Club will provide training in:
Management and motivation of Golf Maintenance Team.
Daily scheduling of Golf Maintenance Team to achieve championship playing conditions.
All irrigation repair, watering techniques and nightly irrigation programming.
Proper use of spray and fertilizer equipment, rate determinations and calibration techniques.
Golf course construction principle, methods, and practices.
Expand upon current knowledge of agronomy and turfgrass management practices.
Position Qualifications:
Golf course greenkeeper experience of at least one year and either a desire to obtain, in the process of obtaining, or you have already obtained the following: Two-year certificate, associate degree or bachelor’s degree in Turf Grass Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. Will consider other experience/education degrees and those currently working towards a degree.
Excellent oral and written English communication skills.
Ability to interact with Club managers, employees, members, and guests.
Must have a valid driver license and clean motor vehicle record.
Must have or able to obtain a California Pesticides License (QAL or QAC) within six months of employment.
