Equipment Manager
Big Canyon Country Club is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Equipment Manager to oversee the maintenance, repair, and inventory of all golf course maintenance equipment and the maintenance facilities. The Equipment Manager will play a critical role in ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of the Golf Course Maintenance operations, contributing directly to the exceptional quality of our golf course. Big Canyon Country Club built a state-of-the-art golf course maintenance facility in 2019 that provides all the tools and equipment necessary to ensure the success of the Equipment Manager and their team.
Duties & Expectations
Oversee and manage the maintenance, repair, and servicing of all Golf Course Maintenance equipment, including mowers, tractors, sprayers, utility vehicles, and other specialized machinery.
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, as well as perform necessary repairs or coordinate with external vendors for complex repairs.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance shop environment.
Manage the inventory of parts, supplies, and tools, ensuring adequate stock levels and cost-effective procurement.
Collaborate with the Director of Agronomy and other Golf Course Maintenance staff to identify equipment needs and plan for replacements or new acquisitions.
Ensure all equipment is operated safely and in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and club policies.
Manage and supervise any assistant equipment technicians, providing guidance and training as needed.
Stay updated on the latest equipment technologies and best practices in Golf Course Maintenance.
Assist with budget preparation and management related to equipment maintenance and repair.
Adhere to the proper recycling and/or disposal of all lubricants, chemicals and any other hazardous materials.
Develop and implement a preventative maintenance program to ensure optimal equipment performance and longevity.
Maintain accurate records of all equipment maintenance, repairs, parts inventory, and service schedules.
Manage the performance of all support vendors and contractors such as equipment dealers, electrical, HVAC, plumbing etc.
Manage all environmental operating permits such as AQMD, CARB, OSHA, CERS, OCHCA, Fire Dept.
Ensure regulatory compliance in all areas.
Assist in other duties as assigned by Director of Agronomy
Skills & Qualifications
Proven experience (5+ years preferred) as an Equipment Manager or Head Mechanic, within a golf course maintenance operation.
Strong knowledge of gasoline, diesel, and electric-powered equipment, including hydraulics and electrical systems.
Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical issues.
Proficiency in welding and fabrication.
Experience with developing and implementing preventative maintenance programs.
Strong organizational and record-keeping skills, including experience with maintenance management software.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Formal training or certification in equipment maintenance or a related field.
Experience with Toro, John Deere, and Baroness golf course maintenance equipment.
Budget management experience.
Supervisory experience.
Possess a professional and courteous demeanor when interacting with all departments and members

Big Canyon Country Club opened for play on May 5, 1971, and is an 18-hole private club in Newport Beach, California. Known as the most prestigious private and invitation only club in the United States. Designed by Desmond Muirhead and built by The Irvine Company. USGA constructed poa annua greens. Fairways, tees and rough are Bermuda grass.
