Bethesda Country Club is a highly regarded 18-hole private golf course located just outside Washington, D.C. We are seeking a motivated, team-oriented professional with strong communication skills and a passion for the golf industry to join our agronomy team as an Assistant Golf Course Superintendent.
This position is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience managing cool season turfgrass in the transition zone while developing leadership skills essential for career advancement. The Assistant Superintendent will play a key role in daily operations, team leadership, and executing agronomic programs to maintain championship-level playing conditions.

Responsibilities:
Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of 20-25 full-time and seasonal employees.
Assist in the planning and execution of daily operations, including fertility, spraying, watering, and course setup.
Manage Toro Two-Wire irrigation system.
Monitor turf health, identify pest and disease pressures.
Participate in renovations and course improvement projects.
Maintain detailed records of chemical & fertilizer applications.
Train staff on proper equipment operation use and best practices.
Communicate effectively with Members, Golf Professionals, other Assistant Superintendents and the Golf Course Superintendent.
Educational Requirements:
Associate or bachelor’s degree in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, or related field.
Experience Requirements:
2-4 years of experience as an Assistant Superintendent.
Ability to obtain Maryland Pesticide Applicator License (3-C Turf) and Maryland Fertilizer Applicator License within 90 days of hire.
Experience with irrigation system repair and water management.
Knowledge of cool season turfgrass management practices.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
