We are currently seeking a passionate and dedicated Horticulturist to join our team and help us maintain the beauty of our grounds year-round.
Position Overview:
As a Horticulturist at Tchefuncta Country Club, you will be responsible for the upkeep, maintenance, and improvement of our plant life, flower beds, and overall landscaping. You will work closely with our Grounds Department to ensure the health, aesthetic appeal, and sustainability of our outdoor spaces. This role requires both a deep knowledge of horticulture and a strong passion for creating and maintaining vibrant outdoor environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan, design, and maintain flower beds, gardens, and green spaces around the country club property.
Assess plant health and implement proper maintenance techniques, including fertilization, pruning, and pest control.
Monitor irrigation systems and water usage to ensure efficient operation.
Collaborate with other groundskeepers and staff to maintain the overall appearance of the club’s outdoor spaces.
Research and select plant species that are well-suited to the local climate and environment.
Maintain records of plant health, maintenance schedules, and other horticultural activities.
Assist with seasonal plantings and special event preparations.
Ensure compliance with safety protocols and environmental regulations in all horticultural practices.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Horticulture, Botany, Environmental Science, or a related field (preferred).
Previous experience in horticulture or landscaping, ideally in a golf course or country club setting.
Strong understanding of plant care, including knowledge of local plant species, pests, diseases, and irrigation systems.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in varying weather conditions.
Valid driver’s license (a CDL is a plus).
