Hammock Dunes Club is seeking an accomplished, driven, and passionate Golf Course Superintendent to lead the maintenance and agronomic operations of the esteemed Creek Course, currently ranked #30 in Florida.
The Rees Jones-designed course, opened in 2003, spans 640 acres of uplands, wetlands, planted pines, and natural oaks, offering an extraordinary and challenging golf experience with no residential development on the property. The Superintendent will play a key role in maintaining and enhancing course conditions while fostering a culture of excellence within the agronomy team.
To be a successful candidate, one must possess outstanding agronomics, leadership, communication and golf course experience. This role demands a professional who understands member expectations and is motivated by overseeing and coordinating all operations of Golf Maintenance. The new Superintendent must collaborate with and build a strong relationship with the Maintenance, Golf and Senior Management teams.

INITIAL PRIORITIES OF THE POSITION:
Become familiarized with course design, past maintenance practices, and the factors that have shaped its current condition.
Carefully review and implement the expert insights from our turf consultant to enhance course conditions and agronomic practices.
Assess the skill sets, work habits, and areas for improvement within your team to optimize performance and foster professional growth.
Build strong relationships with key club leaders to align maintenance strategies with the overall vision and expectations of the club.
Engage with members to communicate course updates, address concerns, and reinforce transparency in maintenance operations.
Offer an objective assessment of the course’s current state, identifying opportunities for improvement and strategic enhancements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES, KNOWLEDGE, APTITUDE AND OTHER TRAITS:
Agronomics:
Strong technical and analytical acumen to ensure optimal agronomics, water, soil and environmental management programs.
Solid irrigation management and daily practices to produce consistent conditions
Highly detailed Bunker maintenance practices
Familiarity with Audubon Certification
Leadership:
Self-motivated, creative professional who defines success with the ongoing establishment and achievement of team goals
Lead by example and set the tone for the team
Ability to measure department standards and hold team members accountable
Cultivates a culture reflective of top performing organizations based on proper recruitment, motivation and retention of a values driven team

Consistently informs membership about agronomic practices, environmental concerns and changes to course conditions.
Timely follow-up with direct reports on daily activities.
Ability to communicate with Spanish speaking staff is highly desirable.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Associates or Bachelor's degree in Turfgrass Management or related field
Florida Pesticide license or ability to receive one in (60) days
3+ years as Golf Course Superintendent
Minimum of six (6) years of progressive responsibilities at a premiere, high end facility known for exceptional course conditions and outstanding member/guest service.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
Salary: $110,000- 125,000
