Monterey Peninsula Country Club is seeking qualified candidates for the role of Intern. Motivated self-starters who are interested in progressing through a career in turfgrass management are encouraged to apply. Interns will have the drive and curiosity required to learn and succeed in the private club industry and will realize the programs that go into maintaining an exceptional golf course. Through practical experience, Interns will be prepared for advancement in the turfgrass industry.
Monterey Peninsula Country Club is a premiere 36 hole facility that provides its membership with several different grass types, different architecture styles set along the Pacific Ocean. The Dunes Course was constructed in 1925 by Seth Raynor with several tweaks throughout the years. Most recently, Jackson-Kahn restored the property in 2015 to its present state. Dunes course is primarily Ryegrass with Pure Distinction Bentgrass on our greens.
The Shore was built in 1965 by Richard Baldock and Jack Neville. In 2003, Michael Stranz was hired to redesign the course to its present layout and design. The Shore hosts Poa annua greens, Fescue/Bent fairways and Ryegrass rough. We are currently completing a bunker renovation right now with new fescue bunker edges, bunker liner, drainage, drip irrigation and sand.
Monterey Peninsula Country Club is celebrating the 100 year anniversary this year and we will be showcasing the property by hosting the 2025 US Women's Mid AM in October. This will be a great opportunity to obtain tournament experience and work closely with the USGA. Housing is provided a few minutes away from the Club and candidate will pay a portion of total rent. Internship dates are from May-October.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Must be able to work independently.
Must meet legal age requirements for the position.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Working on a Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university preferred.
Three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be able to clearly communicate with guests, management and coworkers.
CERTIFICATES & LICENSES:
Must provide valid document(s) to work in the US.
Valid Driver License is required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment at MPCC ranges from winter time lows of 30 degrees to summer time highs to 80+ degrees. While performing these duties the employee may be exposed to outdoor and inclement weather conditions.
