The Peninsula Club recently completed a full course renovation and reopened in October of 2024. The Club is a private, member-owned, 18-hole golfing community located on Lake Norman, 15 miles north of Charlotte, NC (consistently ranked in the top 10 cities to live in the US).
The highlights of the renovation included a wall-to-wall redesign by Beau Welling Design, installation of a new irrigation system with Rain Bird’s IC system, new drainage, Capillary Flow bunker liner system, a short game area, and a 23,000 sq ft putting course. The golf course features Tahoma 31 on tees, fairways, and primary rough; TifEagle Ultradwarf Bermudagrass on putting greens; and fine fescue in “native areas”.

Key Responsibilities:
Scheduling and leading the team by delegating assignments, providing guidance, training, coaching and assistance to ensure work is completed and meets expectations.
Supervising, leading and assisting in the daily set-up and maintenance of the golf course.
Performing and assisting in all planting, fertilizing and chemical applications to ensure optimal turf health and quality.
Ensuring all team members are properly trained in the operation, maintenance, care, and storage of equipment.
Observing daily conditions including mowing quality, green speeds, bunker conditions, course set up, and soil moisture.
Communicating, as necessary, with other department personnel to discuss conditions of the facilities, maintenance plans, and scheduled events.
Ensuring chemicals, fuels, and other controlled products are used, stored, recorded, and disposed of in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations and products are efficiently utilized.
Attending employee and management meetings, turf conferences, workshops, and other educational programs to maintain a current knowledge of technical and turf innovations and changes that may affect the department’s operations.
Performing golf course maintenance tasks including those assigned by the Director of Golf Course Grounds.
Education and other requirements:
2-4 year degree or certificate in Agronomy or related field with equivalent experience.
Experience in golf course maintenance with a progressive career track.
NC Pesticide License or ability to obtain within 90 days.
Valid Driver’s License.
Ability to work a schedule that will include some weekends and holidays.
The Peninsula Club is a stunning country club sprawling along eleven miles of the Lake Norman shoreline in Cornelius, N.C. The Club was purchased by the members in the year 2000, and it provides a casual, resort type atmosphere with events and activities for members of all ages, from toddlers to our seasoned, retired members.
From the beautiful summer months to North Carolina's 50-degree winter days, our members are able to enjoy The Club year-round. Both the golf and tennis communities are lively and active throughout the year.
