Position Summary:
3bird Golf Park is seeking a hard working, detail oriented, and team focused individual for the role of Assistant Golf Course Superintendent. This position is ideal for someone with a passion for golf course maintenance who enjoys hands-on work in turf management, irrigation, and equipment operation. The Assistant Golf Park Superintendent will work closely with the Golf Park Superintendent to ensure the facility is maintained to the highest standards.
3bird Golf Park is located in the heart of Oklahoma City, OK. It is a new construction with 9 acres of Tahoma Bermudagrass and 4 putting greens totalling almost an acre of 007 bentgrass. There is also 5 acres of naturalized areas containing native grasses and wildflowers. The course has a brand new RainBird two wire irrigation system with HDPE piping, Cirrus central control and a new pump system. The equipment fleet consists of new Toro units.
Reporting Structure:
The Assistant Golf Park Superintendent reports to the Golf Park Superintendent and works as part of the maintenance team to carry out daily tasks essential to the upkeep of the golf facilities and surrounding grounds.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform daily maintenance on the golf facility, including mowing, trimming, and other tasks to maintain Park and course playability
Assist with fertilizer and pesticide applications while following proper safety guidelines
Operate and maintain irrigation system, including troubleshooting and repairing sprinkler heads and lines
Maintain and setup reel mowers, utility vehicles, and other turf equipment
Support seasonal tasks such as overseeding, aeration, top dressing, and pest control
Ensure that all tools and equipment are properly cleaned, stored and maintained
Assist with tree and landscape maintenance, including trimming, debris removal, and planting
Work alongside the maintenance team to ensure the Park and course are kept in top condition year round
Follow all safety protocols and ensure compliance with state environmental regulations
Qualifications and Skills:
Experience:
1-2 seasons of golf course maintenance, landscaping, or groundskeeping preferred
Familiarity with irrigation operation and repair
Knowledge of turf grass management and best practices
Technical Skills:
Ability to operate and maintain mowers, blowers, trimmers, and other equipment
Basic understanding of fertilizer and pesticide application
Experience with small engine maintenance and repair preferred
Personal Attributes:
Strong work ethic and attention to detail
Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and an on call schedule as needed
Team oriented mindset with a willingness to learn and adapt
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Education and Licensing:
Preferred:
Course work or degree in agronomy, horticulture, turf management or related field
Required:
Ability to obtain a Certified Pesticide Applicator’s license within 90 days of hire
