Position Summary:
The Equipment Technician at Illini Country Club is responsible for the repair and maintenance of all tools and equipment within the golf course maintenance department including mowers, trimmers, tractors, utility vehicles, and other specialty equipment. The Equipment Technician provides a service which is integral to the goals of the golf course maintenance department, as their talent contributes to the overall quality of the golf course and the lasting impressions of our members and guests. A successful candidate will possess effective communication skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail. The individual who is the best fit is one who can perform the expected contributions and essential requirements with integrity, autonomy, and a positive attitude.
Expected Contributions:
Create an organized, safe, and professional shop environment.
Communicate daily with supervisors and groundskeepers regarding the use and operational status of equipment.
When applicable, provide crew member training including proper equipment operation, proper cleaning and storage techniques, safety, and quality standards.
Assist with snow/ice removal and other seasonal grounds maintenance as needed.
Work independently and be a self-starting problem solver.
Essential Requirements:
Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical defects or failures on all golf course equipment ranging from golf carts and spray rigs to small engine mowers and trimmers.
Repair and adjust cutting units on light and heavy-duty mowers.
Sharpen blades and grind reels/bedknives.
Maintain parts inventory and order parts as needed.
Monitor and operate within determined Repair and Maintenance budget.
Keep accurate and detailed maintenance records of all equipment.
Perform routine preventive maintenance.
Ensure equipment is safe for daily use.
Monitor on-site fuel tanks.
Ensure proper disposal of waste oil and related hazardous materials.
Candidate Profile:
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
Technical training is preferred
Three years’ experience as Turf Equipment Technician or Assistant Equipment Technician is preferred
Valid Driver's License
