Algonquin Golf Club, located in Glendale, Missouri, about 15 miles west of downtown St. Louis, is seeking an Equipment and Shop Manager to oversee one of St. Louis’s most prestigious clubs and state-of-the-art equipment fleets. The position is desired for a highly organized, detailed and passionate team-builder, who sees themself as an industry leader.
Algonquin Golf Club, established in 1899 in the Webster Park neighborhood of Webster Groves, Missouri, is one of the St. Louis area's oldest private country clubs. In 1903, the club relocated to its current location in Glendale, Missouri where it still resides today. The course was designed by legendary architect Tom Bendelow in 1904, initially featuring nine holes, with an additional nine added in 1914. Notably, seven of the original nine holes remain with substantially the same routing, making Algonquin one of the few clubs west of the Mississippi to occupy the same location for over a century.
Algonquin Golf Club boasts a storied history, deep-rooted traditions, and a meticulously designed course that challenges golfers of all skill levels. The 18-hole layout spans 6,222 yards from the championship tees, with a par of 71, a course rating of 69.8, and a slope rating of 131, providing a rewarding and engaging experience for players.

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Equipment & Shop Manager will be a passionate leader, bringing energy to an ambitious team. Working closely with the Golf Course Superintendent, they will oversee a $2.5M equipment fleet, maintenance facility, tools, and parts. This role demands precision, adherence to high standards, and innovative problem-solving to maintain a world-class operation.

Grass Types: Bentgrass greens, Zoysia tees and fairways. Fescue, Bluegrass and Bermuda roughs.
Irrigation System: Toro OSMAC
Equipment: Brand New Toro Equipment on 5 year lease, Some Steiner Rough Mowers (leased), and Cushman golf carts (leased).
Staff: 10 full-time employees and about 15 full-time seasonal staff
Rounds of Golf Annually: 22,000 rounds
The facility features 18 holes, a practice green, and range/chipping area.
Reports to the Golf Course Superintendent
Collaborates with the Golf Course Superintendent and the Assistant Superintendents.

Work Schedule:
In-season: 8-10 hours per day, Monday through Friday, with weekend work as required

Key responsibilities, skills, aptitude, and knowledge:
Equipment Maintenance
Inspect, diagnose, and repair golf course maintenance equipment, including mowers, utility vehicles, and other small-engine machinery.
Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, blade sharpening, belt adjustments, and hydraulic system servicing.
Maintain accurate records of equipment repairs, servicing schedules, and parts inventory.
Ensure all equipment operates efficiently and complies with safety standards.
Identify and order necessary parts and tools while adhering to budget constraints.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Prior 2-5 years of experience preferred.
Preferred certifications from GCSAA.
Strong working knowledge of turf equipment and ability to perform repairs at a high level.
Candidates with substantial experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
