The City of Fort Wayne is looking for a dedicated and dynamic Golf Course Superintendent to oversee the maintenance and operations of four golf courses, two driving ranges, and an electric cart fleet.
Position: Golf Course Superintendent Department: Parks and Recreation Pay Range:$66,974.64 - $80,368.92 Annually Shift: Full-time, 40 hours per week (varied)
As the Golf Course Superintendent, you will lead a talented team of staff to maintain pristine and picturesque golf course conditions for the public to enjoy. You’ll work hand-in-hand with the Aquatics/Athletics/Community Events Manager, ensuring that every aspect of our courses—from turf care to equipment maintenance—is executed to perfection.
What You’ll Do:
Master Course Management: Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance plans, from fertilization schedules to irrigation management, ensuring optimal course conditions.
Lead with Precision: Supervise a dedicated team, assigning daily tasks and providing training on equipment operations and maintenance.
Enhance Golf Experiences: Ensure smooth operations for golfers and events, maintaining harmonious relationships with staff, volunteers, and the public.
Drive Results: Oversee the application of chemicals, fertilizers, pesticides, and irrigation systems to maintain the course’s beauty and health.
Collaborate for Success: Coordinate with the Golf Programs Manager to ensure event readiness and maintain ongoing communication regarding course conditions and improvements.
What We’re Looking For:
A Bachelor’s degree in agronomy, plant science, horticulture, or a related field.
At least two years of supervisory experience in turfgrass management (Assistant Golf Superintendent experience a plus!).
Expertise in course maintenance, including fertilization, irrigation systems, and pesticide application.
Strong communication and leadership skills with a focus on safety and quality.
A passion for golf and creating a top-tier experience for every player who tees off.
