Position Overview:
The Golf Course Equipment Mechanic will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of all golf course equipment, including mowers, utility vehicles, and small engines. This role plays a vital part in supporting our golf course maintenance team by ensuring all equipment is functioning efficiently and safely.
Key Responsibilities:
Diagnose, repair, and maintain golf course equipment, including gas and diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical components.
Conduct preventative maintenance to extend the life and performance of turf equipment.
Sharpen and adjust reel mowers to maintain high-quality turf conditions.
Maintain accurate service records and inventory of tools, parts, and equipment.
Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
Work collaboratively with the Golf Course Superintendent and maintenance team to schedule equipment servicing and repairs.
Experience Requirements
Experience:
Previous experience as a golf course mechanic, small engine mechanic, or related field required.
Strong knowledge of gasoline, diesel, and electric-powered equipment.
Experience with reel grinding and sharpening preferred.
Ability to troubleshoot and repair hydraulic and electrical systems.
Self-motivated with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in outdoor conditions as needed.
Job Knowledge, Core Competencies and Expectations
Mechanical aptitude is preferred.
Ability to safely operate trucks and light motorized equipment.
Knowledge of the principles of operation of gasoline engines.
Knowledge of maintenance tools.
Working knowledge of and ability to use hand and power tools and other equipment.
Ability to comprehend and learn tasks associated with golf course construction/maintenance.
Ability to perform required role during emergency situations.
Mows greens, tees, collars, approaches, rough and fairways.
Aerates greens.
Operates turf vac, loader-backhoe, fairway and rough aerifier.
Verticuts tees and greens.
Spikes greens.
Assists in daily course set -up. Moves tee markers and change cups; maintains ball washers;
replaces tee towels and flags and cleans course hardware when needed.
Maintains gasoline, oil and other equipment fluid levels daily under the direction of the equipment mechanic.
Reports any/all equipment problems to the equipment mechanic.

Maintains maintenance and fluid-use logs (gas and oil) on equipment.
Ensures that all equipment receives visual pre-operation check list inspection as directed by
the Equipment Manager.
Performs basic preventive maintenance on equipment as directed and returns equipment to
