Private club, located in Findlay, Ohio is seeking a 2nd Assistant Superintendent/Irrigation Tech to join their golf course maintenance team. Golf Course Superintendent Brian Heydinger and his team prioritize professional development and growth within their staff. This position has become available following the promotion of the former Assistant to a Head Superintendent position at another club. Notably, the former Assistant is the second individual in the past four years to transition into a superintendent role, highlighting the team's commitment to fostering career progression. Two additional former employees from the past four years are currently attending the Ohio State University studying Turfgrass Management.
Club highlights:
Staff: 20-22 during the peak of the season including 7 full-time year-round employees
Annual rounds: Approximately 16,000 - 18,000
Typical work schedule:
April-October: M-F, every third weekend (dependent upon outing schedule and hand watering needs)
November-March: M-F, with snow removal as needed on weekends
Grass Types: Bent/Poa greens, tees, and fairways. Bluegrass, rye, and fescue rough.
Equipment: Mainly Toro, some Jacobsen, and John Deere.
Future projects: Tee renovation in-house, according to master plan.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in daily and weekly planning.
Assist in pesticide applications.
Maintain irrigation system in a working manner and make repairs as necessary throughout the year.
Duties include and not limited to mowing, course set up, drainage maintenance, repair, and installation, hand watering, tree pruning and removal, snow plowing and removal, and other duties in the maintenance operation.
Assist with inventory tracking.
Assist in the training of new employees in all aspects of golf course maintenance.
Assist in scouting the course for disease and pests.
Daily communication with the Superintendent, other management staff, and the rest of the crew on goals, course conditions, event planning, and other related activities.
Preferred Requirements:
A degree in turf management or related field.
Pesticide license or obtain within first 12 months of employment.
2-4 years of experience in golf course maintenance.
Excellent communication skills with staff and members.
