Job Summary
The Golf Course Mechanic reports directly to the Golf Course Superintendent. Responsible for performing a variety of mechanical duties to maintain and/or repair properties and equipment. The Golf Course Mechanic must be able to work independently, as well as being able to assist in the daily management and operations of the golf course. Other responsibilities include daily spot checks on equipment in the field to ensure proper performance and proper operation of equipment. Work is performed at a moderate, constant pace, but may vary slightly depending on the demands of the job required.

Comments: RGCC is a private 18-hole facility located in Arlington Heights, Illinois, where the Head Mechanic will be responsible for all facets of the ground’s operation related to equipment. The club has recently invested in this position with over 300K in new turf equipment, new golf cart, and trained to have a part-time assistant mechanic in place that assists full time in the winter and every afternoon during the week.

Must be able to perform daily mower adjustments and prioritize repairs that need to be made.
A solid knowledge of every aspect of reel grinding.
Ability to replace rotary blades on mowers.
Ability to connect implements to tractors.
Basic welding and light metal fabrication.
Ability to perform parts ordering, and record keeping pertaining to preventative maintenance.
Basic computer knowledge of word and excel.
Knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the profession.
Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions when needed outside.
Ability to diagnose mechanical troubles and determine appropriate maintenance.
Ability to communicate both in English and Spanish a plus.
Service and repair small gas and diesel engines and replace hydraulic hoses. Knowledge of electrical systems
