We are seeking a dedicated Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to join our team to assist in redeveloping our commitment to excellence in course maintenance and member satisfaction.
The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent will work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent and Equipment Manager to elevate the standards of our golf course and grounds. This position provides an excellent opportunity for hands-on experience, in a culture of innovative and forward-thinking golf course management and turf maintenance. The assistant superintendent will help oversee day-to-day operations, including turf management, staff supervision, equipment maintenance, and water management. This role requires leadership, technical expertise, and a commitment to maintaining a championship-level course.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

A thorough understanding of the game is necessary for tasks to be accomplished in an efficient manner, providing optimal playing conditions
Assist in planning and supervising the maintenance of the golf course, including tees, greens, fairways, roughs, and bunkers.
Oversee the implementation of agronomic programs, including course preparation, pesticide and fertilizer applications, aeration, seeding, and topdressing.
Operate, calibrate, and maintain equipment for pesticide and fertilizer application.
Supervise and train grounds crew members to ensure efficiency, safety, and quality of work.
Monitor irrigation systems for efficiency and effectiveness, ensuring proper water management and water conservation practices.
Perform regular course inspections to ensure quality standards are met and address any issues proactively.
Maintain accurate records of pesticide applications, inventory, and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Assist in budgeting and procurement of supplies and equipment.
Foster a positive and productive work environment among the grounds team.
QUALIFIACTIONS AND SKILLS:
Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, or a related field preferred.
2+ years of experience in golf course maintenance, with a proven track record of leadership and increased responsibility.
Active GCSAA membership or ability to obtain membership.
Possess, or have the ability to obtain a state pesticide applicator’s license within 90 days of employment.
Strong understanding of agronomic practices, plant health, and soil science.
Knowledge of irrigation system operation, maintenance, and programming.
Mechanical aptitude for basic equipment troubleshooting and repair.
Exceptional leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
