Description of Role
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Golf Course Superintendent to oversee the maintenance, operations, and management of our course and grounds. Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Superintendent will lead the turf care team, ensuring the course consistently meets or exceeds CNPGC’s high standards for playability and overall presentation.
Responsibilities and Duties
Respectfully lead the turf care team, including scheduling, training, monitoring, and evaluating all maintenance personnel.
Manage all physical assets and human resources required to maintain the golf course grounds.
Maintain a field of play that meets or exceeds written maintenance standards. Implement safety policies and enforce compliance with the safety program for all staff.
Approve expenditures and exercise cost control measures to operate within the approved budget.
Ensure daily golf course setup and coordinate with the pro shop and other team leaders. Inspect the golf course and related areas to ensure standards are met and adjust management programs as needed.
Maintain accurate and complete records, including payroll, inventory, maintenance procedures, pesticide applications, irrigation schedules, and purchases.
Ensure all property permits, licenses, Alberta REC Lease obligations, and municipal permitting are in place for projects and maintenance operations.
Coordinate and plan tasks with the equipment technician and golf management team. Provide professional advice and input on projects, maintenance operations, and overall golf club offerings.
Meet regularly with the General Manager to discuss plans, projects, finances, priorities, and strategies.
Attend manager meetings and participate in long-range planning.
Manage seasonal golf course preparations and adapt to challenging mountain weather conditions.
Collaborate with contractors to coordinate maintenance and operations during course construction and project work.
Planning and implementing grow-in programs for new course features.

The Superintendent will oversee the management and maintenance of:
Greens, tees, bunkers, fairways, and rough
Practice areas and facilities
Maintenance yard and buildings
Paths, roads, parking lots, and drainage systems
Irrigation system and pumping stations
Woody and herbaceous plantings
Clubhouse grounds and course signs
All buildings on the course, including washrooms, halfway houses, shelters, pump stations, etc
Course hardware, tools, and maintenance equipment
Working Conditions
Evening, early morning, and weekend hours may be required
Hands-on tasks and outdoor work, including snow-cover management through the winter season
We are looking for a hardworking, honest, and organized leader with the following qualifications:
Diploma or Certificate in Turfgrass Management (or equivalent experience). Minimum 5 years of experience as a Golf Course Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent
Expertise with centrally controlled irrigation systems (Toro experience an asset). Experience with golf construction and grow-in projects
Ability to effectively communicate and present themselves professionally. Strong computer skills, including AI proficiency
Valid Alberta pesticide applicator’s license
Driver’s license
Ability to lift 50 lbs and work hands-on in challenging outdoor conditions
